"A king who wishes to stand on the shoulders of his subjects, needs to nurture their feet first."
"Mother!", she whined picking herself up, savouring the metallic taste of asphalt for the third time today.
"The earth hates me!" She bellowed, a red bruise on her knee swelling with her rage
"Why do we fall darling?" Her mother asked with a wise wink.
"Batman never walked on this road mother", she snapped back.
"Why do we fall Maya?" Mother asked again, the naughtiness heightened with her rising eyebrows
"So we can pick ourselves again?" She sullenly questioned, cursing the pale butler.
"We fall, because earth deserves hugs too. We fall not to pick ourselves again, we fall to be reminded of her love. She doesn't hate you darling, she loves you so much it hurts."
Maya looked at her mother with buttoned eyes. The earth wants hugs? She loves me? She looked at the road again, he felt lonely. She imagined him wearing a sad smile.
People rode on him, walked on him, spit on him and dug him up.
Maya stood up straight, balancing herself on her toes. She could feel the earth pulling her.
She closed her eyes and let herself fall into the embrace.
It didn't hurt anymore. She kissed the road with a smile.
