ENDING

He walked on, leaving her behind
she cried tears, bitter - sweet memories flushed around in her head
the first time they kissed, the feel of his hand on her waist
the times they spent holding hands, hoping forever it would last
she remembered the day he fell ill, the day she waited all night
with a bottle of Benedryl in one hand, the CroCin pill held tight

she fantasized a marriage, the altar decked white his hand with the shiny ring
Cindrella had lost her carriage, the prince was evil not the fling
she thought about the walk in the rain, the pleasure which followed pain
the warm bedsheets, his cozy embrace, the carved face with a stubble
the floor had been pulled from under her feet, POP went the bubble

Then anger surged, she thought of the time he left her behind
the time he ditched her to fraternize with his kind
she loathed the handsome face, those brown eyes
the lips which had spoken words, all of them lies
Her head throbbed, she needed a cigarette
not enough, to stop the tsunami of regret

The tear's stopped flowing, her heartbeat slowed
steps felt lighter, her body almost floated
she watched herself open her door, gazed inside at the figure packing
she saw no man, she saw no life, all she saw was a demon grinning at her misery
she picked the glass flower, entwined around a cross, immortality is love he had said
the demon slayed, the stake right through its slender neck,The rose drenched red

She smiled to herself, how fitting she pondered , he laid his own death bed
She picked his zippo off the table, his scotch she splashed on his box
"Burn in Eternal Hell!!" She raged, "Burn in an eternal inferno".
The flames consumed it all, The X-Ray,The Prescription,The Pills
